OVERVIEW:

This comprehensive course covers the main functionality of SiteScope software aimed at people who would like to learn how to use the software to effectively monitor their IT infrastructure and the availability and performance of their applications and services. The information presented in this course will give the student the tools required to utilize and administer the main SiteScope components including Monitoring, Groups, Individual and Group Alerts and Reports, Monitor Templates, Alert Templates, Advanced Monitors, Adapters, Scripts and Administration.

There is a large emphasis on hands on use of the tool and each lesson is reinforced with exercises and review.

This course is available with an optional certification exam in order to attain the ATP Certification. See prerequisites, below.

COURSE OUTLINE:

    Fundamental concepts review
    • SiteScope concepts and an introduction to lab environment

    Basic Monitoring
    • Configure basic SiteScope monitors for a single monitored computer.
    • Create monitored server definitions and store credentials for easy reuse.
    • Work with monitor dependencies, appropriately set thresholds and use the baselining tool.

    Managing Groups & Tags
    • Learn how to effectively organize monitors into a group hierarchy to facilitate dependencies, alerting and reporting.
    • Create and apply tags to allow easy filters for monitors, dependencies, alerts and reports.
    • Utilize the Search & Replace functionality by monitor type, groups and tags.

    SiteScope Dashboard and History
    • Effectively use the Dashboard to control current monitoring.
    • Obtain previous monitor measurements through use of the history view.
    • Apply dashboard and group filters to easily locate individual monitors, or monitors with specific current or previous statuses.

    Monitoring Tools and Regular Expressions
    • Work with all of the tools available to test out monitoring settings and techniques.
    • Learn how to effectively use regular expressions and apply to monitors.

    Advanced Monitoring, Adapters and Scripts
    • Use more advanced system and resource monitors, and create and use script monitors.
    • Work with system adapters to learn how OOTB system monitoring works.

    Monitor Templates & Deployment
    • Create and deploy monitor templates

    Alerts, Actions and Dependencies
    • Work with individual and group alerts and learn what actions are available.
    • Use dependencies to effectively triage and control other alerts and monitors.

    • Use both individual and group reports to provide monitored environment information.
